Music on Main | Studio Policies & Procedures
1. Professional Billing & Tuition
The 4-Lesson Cycle: Tuition covers a consistent cycle of 4 lessons to be completed within the same month. Lessons are designed for steady progress and cannot be "stretched" indefinitely. For example, a cycle started in May cannot have remaining lessons carried over into the following season.
Flexible Payment Options: To accommodate your family budget, we offer two convenient ways to pay:
Option A: Total monthly tuition paid in full on the 1st of each month.
Option B: Monthly tuition split into two payments, due on the 1st and 15th of the month.
Accepted Payment Methods: We currently accept Venmo, Cash, Check, and PayPal.
Invoices & Late Fees: Music education is our full-time profession, and timely payments allow us to maintain the studio at a high level. A $20 late fee will be automatically added to any invoice not paid by the due date.
Open Communication: Please do not ignore an invoice. If you are experiencing financial hardship, we offer flexible payment plans—we simply ask for the courtesy of an open conversation. Disregarded invoices may result in a suspension of services.
Refunds: There are no refunds, no exceptions.
2. Cancellations & Make-Ups
The "Life Happens" Policy: We believe that requiring 24 hours to cancel, like most studios, can be harsh. We know that life happens! However, you must inform us the morning of your lesson to receive a make-up or credit. Notifications received after this time will result in the lesson being counted as attended.
No-Shows: Failure to call or text ("No-Show") counts as a lesson taken and is subject to a fee of $15.
Studio Cancellations: If the studio cancels, you are owed a make-up within the same week, a substitute teacher, or one tuition credit.
Emergency Flexibility: We understand that true emergencies (power outages, car trouble, etc.) occur. Please communicate with the Director separately when these arise! However, please note we cannot accommodate last-minute time-change requests.
3. Inclement Weather & Remote Learning
Inclement Weather: When local schools are closed due to weather, the physical studio is also closed.
The Pivot Policy: On weather days, lessons pivot to Online Learning. If a student is unable or refuses to do an online lesson, they will receive a "Lesson Lab" (voice, piano, or guitar) to complete at their leisure.
Billing for Weather Days: Both the online pivot and the Lesson Lab count as your lesson for the week. If a student fails to complete the sent Lab or refuses the online pivot, they will still be charged for the lesson as a "no-show."
4. Breaks, Withdrawals & Scheduling
Pausing Lessons: If you decide to take a break or pause lessons, we require 10 days' notice for courtesy and booking reasons. If this notice is not given, you will owe 50% of the cycle payment for the month. We plan our faculty schedules well in advance and appreciate your proactive communication!
Studio Recess: The only exception to the 4-lesson cycle is scheduled studio recesses (e.g., Christmas/Winter break). These are determined by the Studio on specific weeks.
Rescheduling: We do not reschedule for extracurriculars, with the exception of school music performances or community plays (a director's note may be requested).
5. Health & Safety
Illness: If your child is sick, please keep them home to prevent spreading illness to teachers and other students. We are happy to pivot to an online lesson or send a Lesson Lab if the student is feeling up to it!
6. Recitals & Conduct
Conduct: During rehearsals or recitals, students are expected to be kind, respectful, and supportive teammates.
Fees: An Annual Registration fee (or per-event Recital Fee) must be paid in advance to cover venue costs, programs, and materials.
